The view
The windows of this apartment open onto the village: the houses and lanes of Marina di Campo on one side, the gulf and the beach on the other. This is how you inhabit a historic palazzo — not with a terrace, but with a panorama that enters the home.

The story
Marina di Campo
Fishing port · The harbour of Elba's southern shore
Marina di Campo has been a fishing port for centuries. The round tower that closes the bay to the west was raised in the late sixteenth century as a lookout against Barbary corsair raids; in more recent times it has watched over the evening return of the boats laden with anchovies and sardines. It is the only port on the southern side of Elba — the side that looks toward Corsica.
The steps that lead to this apartment are the same ones the fishermen climbed on their way back from the sea, nets on their shoulders. Today the village has its trattorias, the fish market, the gelato shops along the seafront — but its soul has stayed the same: the sound of hulls entering the harbour at sunset, voices from the windows, the smell of salt mixing with the morning coffee.
“The longest of the Tuscan Archipelago”
Marina di Campo beach · 1.3 km of sand
Two minutes separate these steps from the longest beach in the entire Tuscan Archipelago: 1.3 km of pale sand, calm water, gentle seabed — in the morning you arrive with a towel on your shoulder and nothing more. And then there are the places around: ten minutes on path 39 from Piazza Verrazzano descend to Galenzana — a quiet sand-and-pebble bay with a farmhouse just behind the pine grove and water a different shade of turquoise. Further east, the path climbs toward the Capo Poro lighthouse, built by the Regia Marina during the Second World War: among the broom shrubs you can still see the artillery emplacements and bunkers of the battery the Allies silenced on 17 June 1944.

- 2 minutes on foot (about 150 metres). Marina di Campo beach stretches over a kilometre with fine sand and calm waters — ideal for families with children.
- Can I choose the check-in day and the length of stay?
- Yes — at Scalinate the arrival day is fully flexible (any day of the week), with a 3-night minimum stay, year-round on request. Tell us your preferred dates and Giovanni will confirm. Check-in 16:00–20:00, check-out 08:00–09:00.

- The apartment is in the historic village centre with no private parking. Paid public car parks are nearby. In high season we recommend cycling or walking.
- Are pets allowed?
- Yes, on request — with a €50 supplement per stay for extra cleaning. Scalinate is a historic apartment with narrow stairs and sensitive neighbours, so we look at each request case-by-case: drop us a WhatsApp message with your dog's size and a few details about your stay, and Giovanni will confirm.

- Up to 4 guests: 2 bedrooms — one with a double bed and one with two single beds.
- How do I reach Marina di Campo?
- The main route is Piombino → Portoferraio by Blu Navy or Moby Lines (about 60 minutes crossing). From Portoferraio port, Marina di Campo is about 25 minutes by car. On our «How to Get Here» page you will find the Blu Navy widget to book your ferry with the exclusive discount reserved for our guests.
